Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Complex Trauma

"I need help with trauma!"

At some point in our lives all of us face dramatic experiences that shape us as individuals. Sometimes the effects disappear, but for some of us, they linger and give rise to nightmares, flashbacks, having continuous feelings of anxiety so that you feel your life to be under threat even when no threat is present.

You might avoid situations that remind you of the trauma. The physical sensations that are associated with trauma are painful and distressing, to the point where your thoughts become dissociated so that you no longer feel part of the painful process. The trauma might affect your daily life to the point where you isolate yourself, develop distrust in others, and you become disconnected from them. You might lose all friendships and have no romantic relationships, thinking that "I might be hurt again".

You may think that "it all happened in the past", but if the trauma, and the emotions and thoughts associated with it, have not been processed and dealt with, it will have a lasting effect on your life via having flashbacks and nightmares. Your brain still thinks that it is under threat and prepares you to flight, fight or freeze.

We can help you with all these symptoms by up-dating emotions and thought processes. We will also teach you the coping strategies necessary to cope with intensive emotions. We have treated many clients before.
